Dacia Pray Memorial Foundation
                       August 2009

Dear Family and Friends,

It has been three years since Dacia’s passing and we miss her very much.  We miss her smile, enthusiasm, and sense of humor.  Although she’s not physically with us in this world we sense her watching over us.

We believe Dacia is very proud of all the activities the Foundation has been able to provide not only to the Veterans students, but to all the elementary schools as well. We wanted to give everyone an update to what the Foundation has been doing with all your generous donations.

The Dacia Pray Memorial Foundation is pleased to inform you that this year, through your efforts and generous donations, the foundation was once again able to provide field trips for the entire student body at Veterans Memorial School.  In addition, students from several schools were provided with busing for dental check-ups.

Vet’s School has initiated a program which rewards students for perfect attendance, attaining honor roll, doing good deeds and being respectful.  On a monthly basis they are rewarded with a pizza or ice cream party.  Attendance has improved since the program began and the parents are more involved with the school because of it.

The foundation was thrilled to provide Mad Science assemblies for all 5 elementary schools in Central Falls.  Mad Science aims to spark imagination and curiosity by instilling a clear understanding of what science really is and how it affects the world around us.  They entertained the students with dry ice storms, amazing chemical reactions and defying gravity to name a few.  Along with the show each school was provided with refreshments for the Faculty and Staff in appreciation for all their hard work and dedication throughout the year.  The Foundation felt it was important to let the teachers know that their efforts are noticed and appreciated.

This year’s many fundraisers raised an amazing $12,000 .  Everyone has been very supportive and extremely generous. With your help we have been able to do a lot of good things for the children of Central Falls.  They are very appreciative and send the cutest thank you cards and pictures.

I’m sending this letter to let you know about our upcoming Walk-A-Thon event.

Third Annual Dacia Pray Memorial Foundation Walk-A-Thon
Saturday, September 19th, 2009
Slater Memorial Park, Pawtucket, RI.
Walk begins at 10:00 am
(registration begins 8:30am)

Your participation, whether you volunteered, walked or made a donation enabled us to enrich the lives of the children of Central Falls. We are hoping you are able to participate again this year.

The Walk-a-thon preparations are in the works and the committee is planning another fun-filled, family-friendly event with exciting activities that every age group will enjoy!  The committee is excited with the response we have received from people who will be donating their time and talent to make this annual event a huge success.

Please feel free to gather friends and consider making a Walk-a-thon team or ask them for a pledge.  Helping to support this worthwhile event will help keep Dacia’s spirit and memory alive.

Information and updates of the event, walk-a-thon registration forms, sponsorships, etc., can be found on the Foundation website at www.daciapray.com.

Thank you again for your continued love and support.
